Zermatt – Cervinia Hike Extension

Shuttle bus alternative: return to your car in Cervinia by hiking from Zermatt...

Monte Cervina Matterhorn

Your view to the Matterhorn!

We need to wait until 2017 for the UTMR races to complete the full loop around Monte Rosa. But that doesn’t mean you also need to wait!

In 2016 we are offering an option for a return to Cervinia partly on foot on Sunday 4th September after your race. This is an alternative to the bus shuttle from Grächen to Cervinia.

It would take a full day to run from Grächen to Zermatt on the high level Europaweg, the most beautiful höhenweg of the Alps, they say. So we propose a one day alternative to reach Cervinia after your race.

It’s an iconic mountain!

Costs

100 euros including:

  • Baggage transport fee
  • Bus transfer from Grächen to Zermatt
  • Hike from Zermatt to Col Theodul led by a mountain guide

The hike will only be cancelled at the request of the guide (in pouring rain, thunderstorms). In this situation the 100 euros fee will be used to arrange alternative transport for you from Grächen back to Cervinia. There will be no refunds.

25/30reserved

No specialist equipment is required! However, please make sure you carry full waterproofs, windproof and warm clothing etc. as necessary for crossing a glacier above 3000m. Whatever the forecast says, weather can change quickly in the mountains and conditions at 3000m can be very different to lower in the valley.

We will organise the transportation of your baggage from Grächen to Cervinia, arrange the bus transfer to Zermatt and organise and pay the mountain guide. All you need to do is to enjoy your day!

We (UTMR/KORA Explore) are facilitating rather than organising this hike option – you hike at your own responsibility.

Please fill in this form if you would like to return to Cervinia with this option.
