Swiss Valais Trails

Running day tours, with yoga and meditation

Moving into stillness

Based in the village of Grächen we explore some of the best running tours in the Valais. Focusing on day tours we have greater flexibility and we can tailor the camp to you, the participants, depending on the weather conditions & snow cover (for the mid-June camp). This is an ideal opportunity to boost your technical skills and endurance, to develop your confidence running in the mountains, or simply to enjoy some days of movement in an incredible mountain landscape in like minded company!

We will also offer (optional) meditation and yoga sessions, depending on the day’s itinerary.

Grächen is easily accessible by public transport and it is a delightful small village situated on a sunny alp with superb views. A nice place to be based for a few days!

Course director: Lizzy Hawker (instruction in English) On foot whenever possible, as an elite athlete Lizzy held the world record for 24 hours on the road and won the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc an unprecedented 5 times. Now race director of the Ultra Tour Monte Rosa her passion for exploring is taking her far beyond competition to high, wild places often in Nepal. This same passion for exploring leads her to share experiences with others through movement in the natural world around us, and to help others move beyond any perceived barriers or boundaries.

We’ve spent a lot of time now in and around Grächen while organising the Ultra Tour Monte Rosa. There are some magnificent trails right from the village and nearby in this part of the Swiss canton Wallis / Valais. So we thought it’s time to have a running camp based in Grächen to share these gems with you!

The great thing about having a village base is the flexibility to choose day tours according to the group and the conditions. Here are just a few of our favourites:

  • Grächen to Zermatt along the renowned Europaweg, crossing the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world!
  • Saas Fee to Grächen Höhenweg with breathtaking mountain scenery with views of Weissmies, Laggin, Fletsch, Balfrin or Bietschhorn and the valleys below.
  • Grächen – Reidgletscher – Grächen along the route of the new UTMR Berglauf
  • St Niklaus (Jungen) to Randa via the Topalihütte – the little known gem with magnificent mountain scenery
  • Zermatt – Hörnlihütte – Zermatt – right to the foot of the iconic Matterhorn
  • Zermatt – Trift – Mettelhorn (3320m) – Höhbalmen – Schönbiel – Zmutt – Zermatt
